It certainly has something to do with Camorr (because that setting is so awesome. This is what I call worldbuilding), but also with the characters. I think, there can't ever be a replacement for Calo and Galdo Sanza.

Have you read his shortstory "A Year and a Day in Old Theradane"? It was published in Rogues - but you don't have to invest the money (for a book edited by GRRM), Scott saw fit to have it published on the internet, here's a link via my blog: http://rhetoricandlogic.tumblr.com/post/125925022196/a-year-and-a-day-in-old-theradane-uncannyfishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07068096941188404918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1140138057734139169.post-40992154541282968792015-07-29T20:52:08.988-07:002015-07-29T20:52:08.988-07:00I never 'forced' you to read it. With the time between the 2nd and 3rd books and since you read Lies, it's probably a good idea to reread, because Republic references Lies more than it does Red Seas.Elfyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09955473789404631382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1140138057734139169.post-11016596272563652382015-07-29T05:31:43.158-07:002015-07-29T05:31:43.158-07:00it's very interesting the different reactions ...it's very interesting the different reactions people have to books. I enjoyed reading it (when you "forced" me to read it), but it's coloured by other things that were going on at the same time, and I haven't felt a burning desire to re-read it. I may do, as I haven't read the third book yet, and I think I need to refresh myself with earlier books.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
